HCPSS and the Applications and Research Laboratory would like to recognize the MSDE Career and Technology Education Awards of Excellence Outstanding Business Partnerships – CTE Programs state winner Mr. John Hauserman, CFP, Financial Council Incorporated.  Mr Hauserman’s efforts and commitment to the Academy of Finance benefits and enriches the students, teachers, and local community.  Mr. Hauserman mentors students, offers internships, provides scholarships, conducts workshops and presentations in and out of the classroom, and works closely with school staff and advisory board members reviewing and resolving curriculum and advisory board administrative issues. Mr. Hauserman meets monthly with the advisory board and the AOF teachers/administration, and meets weekly with students for special event and competition preparation, devoting his time and energy to the success of the program.  As a coach to the AOF’s personal finance challenge team Mr. Hauserman has played a significant role in the team’s success over the past four years.  Through his efforts these students have won the state competition four years in a row, and placed in the top ten nationally, winning first place in 2014 and 2016.  More importantly his efforts have instilled in the students the importance of commitment to financial literacy.  Thanks to his efforts students graduate with a strong knowledge of career opportunities in the field of finance, the ability to create financial plans for their future, and make good financial decisions. He has created life-long mentor connections for the students within the industry of their interest by connecting students with community members.  He has exposed students to unique experiences through his own mentorships and his monetary support eases the financial burden for students going to college. For the teachers, Mr. Hauserman brings his expertise to the classroom offering alternative methods of learning and a deeper understanding of financial issues that are current and applicable.  We would like to thank Mr. Hauserman for all he has contributed to the Academy of Finance program.  He provides experiences that significantly broaden the opportunities for young adults to succeed in the future by being career and college ready.
