We are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our ARL Cybersecurity Networking teams, who competed in the first annual Maryland Capture the Flag (CTF)—a virtual cybersecurity competition hosted by UMBC on March 28, 2026. Both teams placed in the top four overall, outperforming teams from local community colleges and universities.
Our senior team, The Nanners—Sean Cabaniss (Glenelg), Om Debnath (Mt. Hebron), Jay Patel (River Hill), Andrew Patrone (Glenelg), Anjay Singla (River Hill), and Brian Zhang (Mt. Hebron)—earned 1st place in the high school division.
Our junior team, Team ARL—Jonathan Harrington (Howard), Rudra Jhawar (Marriotts Ridge), Andrey Kamenetskiy (Centennial), Tony Pinedo (Long Reach), and Revanth Ramakrishnan Santhi (Marriotts Ridge)—secured an impressive 3rd place in the high school division.
The Maryland CTF is a team-based competition featuring hands-on cybersecurity challenges in areas such as cryptography, web security, reverse engineering, and digital forensics. Events like this give students the opportunity to apply their skills in real-world scenarios while building teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
