The following Academy of Finance Students from the Applications and Research Laboratory placed in the nations top 10 for High School students in the Investwrite Essay Competition. 5th Place National Finalist: Ayo Adelaja and 8th Place National Finalist: Benjamin Yost. Students competed with over 2000 other applicants. The competition requires students to write a 1000 word essay on a preassigned investment topic. TEACHER: Maddy Halbach

Both levels of the Hotel and Restaurant Academy took a field trip to Turf Valley Resort on Friday February 12, 2016 to learn about the different career paths one could take working at a resort.

Two of the Advanced Hotel and Restaurant Management Academy students who will be attending the Culinary Institute of Virginia in the fall, volunteered to help the admissions rep and other future students of CIV prepare a meal for the patients and their families of Ronald McDonald House in Northern Virginia.
