Middle and high school students will participate in activities that will help them relate their own interests to different career areas while exploring the Career Academies offered in the high schools. Biotechnology students expressed a protein in bacterial cells and purified it in lab. Today, Dr. Dan Rudolf, of Emergent Biosolutions, Inc., gave a presentation on the production and purification of proteins for vaccines and therapeutics. Students gained a real appreciation of how the techniques they are learning at the ARL are applied in the pharmaceutical industry.

Change for Change The Howard County Applications and Research Laboratory (ARL) Chapter of Skills USA, under the program sponsorship of Rhonda Lang, led a “Change for Change” war between the different academies at ARL.
