Students Leanna Byrum and Gabrielle Aidam took second place in the SkillsUSA Regional Competition for Interactive Application and Game Design. Their educational game, PHeroes, about water neutralizing acids and bases, will go on to compete in the SkillsUSA State Competition On April 13. Three ARL Agriculture Science students spoke at a senate hearing on Wednesday, Feb. 13, describing the importance of agriculture education in Maryland Schools. Members included Makenzie Hereth, Kelly Spicer, and Grace Maisel.
On Saturday February 9, 2019 the annual Howard County Brain Bee was held a Howard Community College. The Brain Bee is a knowledge bowl contest focused on Neurobiology. Questions included brain anatomy, neurotransmitter functions, neural degenerative diseases, and much more. Students from the Biotechnology II GT On Campus experience participated in this contest. Gabrielle Aidam, an Animation & Interactive Media II student at the ARL, received two Gold Key awards in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
