The Howard County Public School System Applications and Research Laboratory (ARL) has been renamed and is now the Howard County Career & Technical Education Center (CTEC). Updates, including a new website, are forthcoming this summer.

SkillsUSA team takes second place in Regional Game Design
Students Leanna Byrum and Gabrielle Aidam took second place in the SkillsUSA Regional Competition for Interactive Application and Game Design. Their educational game, PHeroes, about water neutralizing acids and bases, will go on to compete in the SkillsUSA State Competition On April 13. Joining them will be students competing in the Health Knowledge Bowl and 3D Animation Comeptitions. More information…

FFA Members Speak at Senate Hearing
Three ARL Agriculture Science students spoke at a senate hearing on Wednesday, Feb. 13, describing the importance of agriculture education in Maryland Schools. Members included Makenzie Hereth, Kelly Spicer, and Grace Maisel.
Biotechnology II GT Take Top Awards At County Brain Bee
On Saturday February 9, 2019 the annual Howard County Brain Bee was held a Howard Community College. The Brain Bee is a knowledge bowl contest focused on Neurobiology. Questions included brain anatomy, neurotransmitter functions, neural degenerative diseases, and much more. Students from the Biotechnology II GT On Campus experience participated in this contest. Gabrielle is a Scholastic Gold Key Winner!
Gabrielle Aidam, an Animation & Interactive Media II student at the ARL, received two Gold Key awards in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. (https://www.artandwriting.org/) She will move on to National Judging in New York City and be considered for Gold, Silver, or National Achievement Awards. Final results will be announced March 13, 2019
